Over the past five years, we have successfully sold more than 230 units of the VMC-102 Studio Monitor Controller both domestically and internationally, establishing it as a mature and respected professional audio product.
It has been recognized for its unique monitor section that flexibly supports multichannel audio without being limited by channel formats since its initial release. However, with the growing emphasis on network integration in broadcast production systems, we recognized the need to embrace network audio in the VMC-102 as well, in order to further expand its potential. As a result, we have decided to upgrade it to the VMC-102IP model, retaining its core architecture while incorporating a Dante network audio interface.
The VMC-1021P features a total of 128 channels of inputs and outputs, including 64 channels of MADI 1 system (compatible with single/multi-mode via SFP modules) for compatibility with conventional MADI systems, and 64 channels of Dante Network Audio. Additionally, it offers other inputs/outputs (GPIO/LAN/USB/RS-422/Headphone jack), and maintains the same data structure as the previous model, to ensure compatibility.
The primary benefit of featuring Dante Network Audio is the ability to achieve virtual routing without the need for expensive audio routers, enabling seamless connectivity with other audio devices on the same network.
Furthermore, the distinctive feature of the VMC-102IP is the inclusion of a virtual routing function that allows for actively switching part of the Dante network routing and capturing it as monitor audio.This function allows the VMC-102IP to establish audio connections between Dante devices, similar to the functionality of Dante Controller.
The primary advantages of controlling from VMC-102IP include circumventing channel shortages typically experienced with the VMC-102's 128 monitor input lines when monitoring multi-channel audio such as Dolby Atmos, and controlling system connections directly from buttons on the device, enabling seamless system reconfigurations. These advantageous features demonstrate its power as a studio system controller with significant flexibility.
